Ballscrew common faults and solutions

The following are some common failures and solutions of ball screw nuts:

Fault 1: Excessive noise

Solution: Check whether there is insufficient lubrication and add  appropriate amount of lubricant; check whether the balls are damaged or have foreign matter, clean or replace the balls; check whether the screw and nut are worn, repair or replace if necessary.

Fault 2: Movement is not smooth or stuck

Solution: Confirm the lubrication condition and improve it; check whether impurities have entered and clean them; check whether the screw or nut is deformed and correct or replace it.

Fault 3: Decreased accuracy

Solution: Check the wear of the balls and raceways and replace them in time; check whether the installation is correct and readjust the installation; check whether there are loose parts and tighten the relevant parts.

Fault 4: Temperature rise is too high

Solution: Confirm whether the lubrication is appropriate, adjust the lubrication method or amount; check whether it is overloaded, and adjust the load.

Fault 5: Backlash is too large

Solution: Adjust the pretightening force of the nut; check the fit of the balls and raceways, and replace related parts if necessary.
